Liu Shih Kun 刘诗昆
Liu Shih Kun is a world-renowned Chinese pianist, who has earned his place in the most famous concert halls around the world. He was a child prodigy performing Beethoven concerto at the age of six and winning the gold medal in the Chinese National Piano competition for children when he was only nine years old. In 1956, he received the third prize at the Liszt International Piano Competition in Hungary, which he shared with legendary Russian pianist Lazar Berman. Due to the political situation at the time, the Hungarian government compensated Mr. Liu Shih Kun for not receiving the first prize by giving him Liszt’s hair as a “Superior First Price.” Two years later Mr. Liu won the second prize at the First Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow, in which the first prize was given to famous American pianist, Van Cliburn. Mr. Liu graduated from Central Conservatory in Beijing and continued his piano studies in the well-known Moscow Conservatory named after P.I Tchaikovsky under tutorage of legendary pianist and professor –Samnuel Fenberg. Mr Liu has been invited to perform with many prestigious orchestras under batons of Kiryll Kondrashin, Seiji Ozawa, Lorin Maazel.
Siqing Lu 吕思清
One of the most active violinists today, Siqing Lu is the first Asian violinist to win the first prize at the prestigious Paganini International Violin Competition in Italy in 1987. Hailed by Strad as “an outstanding talent”, Siqing (pronounced See-Ching) is acknowledged one of the most outstanding Chinese violinists of his generation. He has performed to acclaim in more than thirty countries throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia.
Shen Na 沈娜
Shen Na is one of China’s most renowned Sopranos. She is currently a soprano at Central Opera House of China, a member of the Association of Chinese Performers and a guest professor in the Music Department of the P.L.A. Art Academy. Shen Na has collaborated with many of the world’s most famous orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, French National Symphony Orchestra, and Russian Mullins Theater Symphony Orchestra with the famous conductor Tedeyev, Belgrade Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, and the Macao Orchestra. Her extensive international repertoire includes leading roles in: Madam Butterfly, Cavalleria Rusticana, Pagliacci, The Tales of Hoffmann, Aida, La for za del Destino, Tosca, Concubine Yang, Eight Girl Soldiers Drowned Themselves, Farewell My Concubine, The King, Turandot, and Xi Shi in the NCPA.
